Phenmetrazine is an anorexic stimulant. Structurally, it is an amphetamine analog with a morpholine ring incorporated into its terminal amine. For a long time, Phenmetrazine has been used as an appetite suppressant, but the compound is prone to abuse. 3-Fluorophenazine (3-FPM) is a stimulant-like new psychoactive substance (NPS) and a fluorinated analog of phenmethazine. 3-FPM is a sympathomimetic drug that has the same effects as classical stimulant drugs. Its action is believed to involve the accumulation of norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain. This effect is similar to the effects of dextran and dopamine. 3-FPM is a norepinephrine-dipping agent that shows negligible efficacy. It can be used as a releaser of serotonin. 3-FPM prevents the uptake of norepinephrine and dopamine transporters in HEK293 cells by blocking their action.

3-FPM can reverse the effects of monoamine transporters, such as those involved in the production of norepinephrine and dopamine. It can also release these neurotransmitters into the extracellular space.

Evaluation of the metabolic pathway revealed that Noxidation is a cyclic process that involves the alkylation of an ethylbridge. This process is followed by the formation of Omethylation.
